Our Practice

Jordan Poirier Furniture is a solid wood furniture company that designs and manufactures handmade free standing furniture. Our process embraces the natural qualities of the materials used by working with nature rather than against it. The changing of seasons and environments, and the gentle or harsh use of each piece create a storyboard to the lifespan of the object, becoming an intimate representation of each user. It's this connection between user and object, shown through the dents, wear marks, and coffee cup stains that provide meaning to even the most mundane of objects.

We encourage our furniture to be used and loved for many generations therefore all of our furniture is made from premium materials and utilize time tested solid wood joinery techniques. Our work is designed with an emphasis on functionality and an appreciation for even the smallest details, inspired by the refined simplicity of Japanese and Scandinavian design.

Jordan Poirier

Designer / Woodworker

Jordan Poirier is a designer/woodworker who creates primarily functional solid wood furniture for the home. Jordan grew up surrounded by nature and the craft of woodworking; from a young age he spent his winters tinkering in his father's basement shop and his summers exploring the endless wilderness of northern Ontario’s lakes and bays, on wooden boats built by his grandfather. Jordan is a 2021 graduate of Sheridan College with his bachelor's degree in Craft and Design - Furniture and his certificate in Creativity and Creative Problem Solving from Buffalo State.

Jordan's work is inspired by the stillness of the natural world he grew up in. He aims to emphasize the connections formed between object and user through the longevity of his materials and the formation of patinas over time.
